Sildenafil Safety & Side Effects
Most sildenafil side effects are temporary and manageable. A few situations are different: nitrates can cause a dangerous blood-pressure drop, and certain rare symptoms need urgent care. This page shows the difference.
Common is not the same as urgent
The most common side effects of sildenafil are headache, facial flushing, indigestion, a blocked nose, and dizziness. Some people also notice a blue tinge to their vision or increased sensitivity to light. These are usually mild and short-lived.
The serious risks are rarer but must be known: a sudden dangerous drop in blood pressure when combined with nitrates, priapism (a painful erection lasting more than 4 hours), and very rare reports of sudden loss of vision or hearing. This page separates the common from the urgent.

Flushing

Heart and blood pressure

Kidney and liver

Safety questions
Is sildenafil safe for long-term use?
It has a long safety record for erectile dysfunction when used as prescribed, but 'safe' always depends on the individual. A prescriber should review heart health, other medicines, and ongoing suitability.
What should I do if I get a 4-hour erection?
Treat it as an emergency and seek medical help the same day. Priapism can cause permanent damage if untreated.
Can I take sildenafil with alcohol?
A small amount is usually tolerable, but alcohol is a depressant that can reduce arousal and lower blood pressure. Heavy drinking makes the medicine less effective and more risky.
Does Kamagra have different side effects to Viagra?
